What exactly is glass fusing you might ask? Glass fusing is officially defined as the heat bonding of separate pieces of glass in a kiln. It is a fun and easy way to make unique pieces of jewellery or other small “arty” objects. Why not try something new?
Your creative glass fusion workshop includes:
All materials and equipment to create your own small piece of art glass (eg. a pendant, ring or small bowl)
Hands-on instruction in glass design, cutting, potential inclusions, cold working and assembly
Firing of your piece overnight for next day collection
Small groups (up to 6 people)
Lunch and celebratory “verre d'amitie”(i.e. glass of the delicious local wine)
Cycling is a pretty important part of our life, so we get it…you are planning a cycling holiday because you want to devote as much time as possible exploring on 2 wheels. But we also know that sometimes it is good to mix it up a little. So, we are very excited to offer a new “off-bike” activity – come spend a 1/2 day getting creative in our glass fusion workshop.
Denise will show you around the basics of glass cutting and fusing including glass painting, metal inclusions, slumping and more. She will help you let your creativity flow and make a small piece of your own that will be a great souvenir of your trip to Languedoc. Check out the gallery to see the kinds of objects you can make.
Glass fusion is a two part process. Once your have assembled your piece, it will need to be fired so that it can actually “fuse” together. The firing is completed over night, as most firing schedules take at least 10-12 hours. Your artwork will be available for pick up at the end-of-the day following your workshop.
The studio can accomodate groups of up to 6 people. It is a great rainy day or rest day activity.
